SCRIPTURE DESCRIPTION FOR WEEK OF MARCH 7, 2010
ISAIAH 55:1-9 the prophet uses the image of hunger and thirst to invite all persons into a life-giving relationship with God. Those who turn to the Lord will be blessed.
1 CORINTHIANS 10:1-13 St. Paul, using the example of the Israelites who chose to break the covenant and were struck down, exhorts the Corinthians to live lives of righteousness and morality. He promises that God will enable them to endure any trial.
LUKE 13:1-9 a number of recent tragedies are reported to Jesus. He warns that, unless they repent, all shall face the same result. He uses the image of a fig tree to illustrate his point that the time for repentance is at hand.
