GENESIS 28:10-19a

In a dream at Bethel, Jacob sees a ladder whereon angels ascend and descend from heaven, and there receives the promise of land which will become Israel.

ROMANS 8:12-25

St. Paul encourages the Romans to live in hope: "For you did not receive the spirit of slavery, but that of children of God...the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us."

MATTHEW 13:24-30,36-43

Jesus tells the parables of the kingdom which explain the presence of sinful members in the present kingdom.  He calls his followers to leave the judgment between the righteous and unrighteous to God.
