White or green is the color for the Season of Epiphany. "Extraordinary signs abound that transfigure ordinary occasions and point to Jesus as God made manifest in the world. Epiphany is the season of signs: it celebrates the manifestation to the world of God in Christ. Three foreign rulers travel far to see an ordinary Jewish baby; water becomes wine at Cana; the heavens open and the Spirit descends over Jesus' ritual bath in the Jordan. This One whom we recognize as one of us is God's own beloved.
The Feast of Transfiguration completes this season, when Jesus at prayer becomes radiant with light and communes with the prophets of God in whose tradition he stands. The Magi, the wedding guests at Cana, the Baptist, and the disciples who accompany Jesus to the mountaintop must read and interpret the signs about Jesus that the Spirit offers them in their lives. The contemporary Church, standing in the tradition of these witnesses and followers of Christ, must seek the signs of Christ's presence in our midst as well"
